Solidworks Corp, a fully owned subsidiary of the Dassault Systems, hopes to corner 40 per cent of the design centric CAD (computer aided design) market in the country over the next three years. Solidworks, a leading player in the 3D computer aided design software, has appointed Ranal Software Technologies as the master distributor for its products in the country.
Solidworks director (Asia-Pacific) operation Ved Narayan told reporters that the market for design centric CAD software in India at present is estimated at $10 million.
Mr Naryan said India, along with China, is one of the fastest growing markets for these products and Solidworks hopes to make its presence in the Indian market with its innovative products.
The industry verticals which will drive the growth for these products comprised OEM suppliers to automobile industry, machine tools, consumer durables, consumer electronics and engineering services industry.
The company also plans to target the educational sector in a big way. At present, the company has 400 registered commercial users and 150 customers in the country.
The company has also provided 450 licenses to around 20 leading educational institutions. The key customers of Soildworks in India include ABB India, Delphi, TVS, Tata Bap Solar, Bharat Electronics Ltd, and GE Capital.
