NEW DELHI: Gone are the days when manufacturing companies used paper and pen to draw mechanical and electrical designs. Most now use computer-aided designing (CAD) solutions, which reduce costs, bring in efficiency and increase productivity.
The impact of CAD is often dramatic. Stumpp, Schuele & Somappa, a Bangalore-based company manufacturing springs and auto components, found CAD solutions bringing a 40 per cent reduction in development and testing cost.
"Even our customers feel confident seeing the kind of solutions we use," says Sandeep Betigeri, the company's GM for product engineering.
